In his early 20’s and with true entrepreneurial spirit, Paul decided to put his skills into a more “hands-on” role, starting up a café and restaurant/cabaret in the Blue Mountains, which he ran very successfully for 4 ½ years while steadily honing his skills for the real estate world where he completed his Diploma in Business at the Real Estate Institute of NSW.

“I am writing to express my great satisfaction with the service of Mr Paul Diks of Chadwick Real Estate, St Ives, Sydney. The house that I sold was part of my mother’s deceased estate in St Ives. We were selling on an already falling market when we decided to offer it in August 2018. Paul met with the beneficiaries to hear their wishes and to map out a selling strategy. He showed his shrewdness about the market, insisting on opening for inspection one month before the ‘selling season’ of spring in Sydney. The house needed preparation: external washing, painting, the removal of carpets and polishing of floorboards. Paul supplied the teams of tradesmen and supervised the work, so that all was completed within ten days. A selection of the original furniture was retained in keeping with the traditional style of the house. There was lukewarm reaction once the house went on the market. Here, for a second time Paul demonstrated that we were in safe hands, adjusting our original asking price downwards by 1% in a bold move that paid off. The house went to a well-attended auction and was passed in, except that one buyer’s agent assured us of a genuine interest.
