Our beautiful Australian summer is just around the corner. For some of us this means putting into place a Bush Fire Survival Plan.

Are you at risk of bush fire?

Prepare. Act. Survive.

As recommended by the NSW Rural Fire Service, there are some basic questions you can ask yourself to check your level of risk:

  1. Do you live within a couple of streets from bushland?
  2. Does your local area have a history of bush fires?
  3. Do you have many trees and shrubs around your home?
  4. If you need to leave your home, do you need to travel through bushland?
  5. Is your Bush Fire Survival Plan more than one year old?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, you may be at risk in the event of a fire. The NSW RFS website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au contains invaluable information to help you assess your household’s level of risk. You can also find all of the information you need in order to establish you Bush Fire Survival Plan. We suggest download the extremely helpful Bush Fire Survival Plan PDF that can be found at www.myfireplan.com.au
