Jane’s ISO Lockdown Cooking Adventures

With another lockdown fast approaching Sydney, and the knowledge that we would all be at home,

my team and I wanted to bring some much-needed fun, yumminess and spice to our local community. So, with that, Jane’s ISO Lockdown Cooking Adventures was born.

Gaining inspiration from the spices and herbs at Gewurzhaus, the team quickly decided on 4 yummy dishes that were sure to excite the community; Butter Chicken, Chipotle Pulled Pork, Minestrone Soup and something for the sweet tooth, the famous Apple Pie.

To add some flavour to the Cooking ISO Adventure, we decided to share the footage of us cooking up a storm in my kitchen and getting the kids to join in the fun, by tasting and scoring each of our creations.

So off we all went on foot, delivering thousands of invitations, recipes and spices to the local Wahroonga community. We definitely got our steps up those days and we were very thankful I have 4 kids to help out! We hope you all received your invitations and if you need the special herbs and spices, please let us know and we can arrange this for you.

To get us ready for our cooking adventures we met with some local stores to help with all our supplies and ingredients. A big thank you to Holi Crop, Fita Fruita, Coles and of course no meal is complete without Fleet Street Merchants.

Chipotle Pulled Pork

First up on our ISO adventures was the yummy Chipotle Pulled Pork. It was so easy to make and best of all the kids just loved it. We served it with rice and then the following day, used leftovers to make burritos – a very versatile dish.

Apple Pie

Next up was the famous Apple Pie. What can we say, just YUM! As you can imagine, this didn’t last long in our household. We made an additional pie and within hours, all consumed. A must to do again.

The community got in on the action by calling, sending messages and sharing photos of their yummy creations, and following along on Jane’s social channels. It seems the recipes were a big hit! Some have even offered to show me some of their own recipes or their versions of the dishes we created… I am looking forward to this!

Minestrone Soup

With the cold weather, the Minestrone Soup topped off with the Holi Crop Sourdough, was a big winner! Which was a surprise considering it was filled with so many veggies. The kids gave it some good ratings and Pete was a big fan, polishing off a few bowls of this one!

Butter Chicken

With the lockdown increasing and homeschooling about to start, the quick 30-minute Butter Chicken was just perfect. So easy and yummy, we will definitely be making this one again.

So there you have it, a very successful ISO Lockdown Cooking Adventure.

We’d like to say a BIG thank you to our community for following along and joining in over the last few weeks. We hope it brought some much-needed fun and yumminess to your lockdown, just as it did ours. It was definitely a great distraction during the school holidays and working from home.
